Welcome to the Exciting Neighborhood of Belhaven, MS!
The most famous attraction in Belhaven just happens to be within a few minutes of the Historic Fairview Inn, and it’s one of our favorite places to send our guests. You’ll especially love it if you’re a literature major or a recreational bookworm. The Eudora Welty House is open for tours and lets you discover the American writer’s world through her furniture and artifacts. Eudora Welty was recognized internationally and even won the Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for her book The Optimist’s Daughter. She lived in this house from 1925 until her death in 2001, so you’ll really get to experience a step back through the 20th century!
Belhaven is home to many top-notch restaurants and bakeries, so why not stop to grab a bite after your visit of the Eudora Welty House? Here are some of our favorite spots:
Urban Foxes is a cute little bakery that opened in May 2019. All recipes used come from the owner’s grandmother, Frances Wynne, who made everything from scratch. Try them for yourself and choose from a selection of sweet and savory pies, scones, muffins, cookies, and more. They also offer an extensive coffee menu. Don’t hesitate to pair your treat with a hot latte!
The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen
Whether you want to stop for brunch, lunch, or dinner, The Manship is the place to go when you’re hungry. They pride themselves in giving Southern classics a Mediterranean twist, like their Greek-style spit-fired chicken or shrimp and chorizo pizza. It’s the best of both worlds if you wish to enjoy Jackson’s traditions while indulging in Italian food.
Keifer’s is a beautiful restaurant with a tavern vibe. You’ll love the private setting and decor (murals on the walls, exposed beams, and stained glass windows). Greek food aficionados will love the pita wraps and salads, as well as the appetizer menu filled with feta cheese, grilled artichokes, and hummus.
Are you looking for things to do at night in Belhaven? Head over to the New Stage Theater! It’s the perfect spot for a date night or a fun evening out. New Stage produces five plays each year which range from master works to more contemporary plays. Did you know that you also get a special discount if you dine at the Fairview Inn’s restaurant before the play?
