What To Expect at the Atwood Music Festival in Monticello, MS
First: What’s the Festival About?
The Atwood Music Festival has been one of the most influential music events in Mississippi since its creation in 1975. Back then, it was known as the Atwood Bluegrass Festival! The event came to be from a desire to promote the Atwood Water Park along the Pearl River in Monticello. Every year since then, the festival has enchanted its visitors with incredible tunes, a great atmosphere, and delicious Southern food. It’s no wonder why it’s considered one of the best music festivals (and the longest-running!) in the whole state.
An Incredible Artist Lineup
The Atwood Music Festival is the perfect event if you want to see some of our favorite country music artists. In addition to the fabulous location by the river, the festival also features some of the best artist lineups in the country. With bands like Zach Bridges, Sweet Tea Trio, The Steel Woods, and David Lee Murphy, you’re sure to stomp nonstop to the rhythm of the music!
A Fun Time
This great musical event isn’t all about the music. It’s also about spending a fabulous time with your loved ones. In addition to attending the concerts, don’t hesitate to take a walk around the park to discover the many food trucks available! Taste Mississippi’s specialties, like chicken bogs and funnel cakes, and get on board the soul food train!
The festival happens annually on Memorial Day Weekend (Friday and Saturday) and begins on Friday at 12 p.m. Note that tickets can only be purchased at the gates! Parking is also available at the Water Park, so don’t worry about finding a spot.
